Time to WORK IT OUT!
One of my favorite mottos is "Eat Clean and Train Dirty!". Currently I am doing split body work outs that consist of working different muscle groups on different days of the week. This is opposed to training my entire body or doing a full body work out a few times a week. My work out week goes something like this...

To supplement my resistance training routine I do anywhere from 30-60 minutes of cardio at the gym. I like to split my cardio respiratory training up between the stair master and the treadmill. The intensity and length of my cardio session varies depending on how I am feeling that day and how long my weight training work out is--but I always make sure to get it in! My heart health depends on it! On that note, I am always careful and make sure to change up my work out routines every few weeks. Your body naturally wants to adapt to whatever resistance or stress you put on it and that's why it is important to always challenge myself and always keep my body guessing!
Total Core Resistance Training
One of my favorite tools to incorporate into my work out are jungle gym straps (featured in the picture) and TRX straps. You can do pretty much any exercise under the sun and they all use your body weight as resistance. They are a great way to challenge your body through stabilization, strengthen your core, and get your abs ripped up and flat! *Pictured: I am doing the single leg variation of a hamstring curl. This is a KILLER exercise for the back of the legs and your butt. By doing this particular exercise one leg at a time I can really isolate my hamstrings and make sure that both of my legs are working equally as hard! |
Free Weights are Essential
Free weights are included in every single work out that I do (unless it's only a cardio day of course!). They a great way to obtain a sexy toned physique, increase your metabolism, torch calories and blast off unwanted body fat! *Pictured: Lying dumbbell chest press with my feet on the bench. By placing my feet on the bench it allows me to straighten out the excessive arch I have in my back, in turn allowing greater stabilization and core activation so I can focus on my chest work out and benching those dumb bells! |
